How will I know?

I cannot
No!
I cannot

I'm busy
I can't talk now
I have someone here
I'm eating breakfast

No!
I cannot
call you back

What do you want?!

Why, nothing

I'm sorry
I bothered you.

I cannot
call you another time.

Death outside
Death inside
Physical death
Spiritual death

What is death
... the cease of oxygen flow to the brain?
... the loss of another's friendship?

Is it futile
worthless

Should I bother
to seek out another
who, it seems
repeatedly says
you are bothering me

a bother
is it better to stop
calling
if the 'right' time
is not when I call.

How will I know
Will God tell me
when to call
when I won't be a bother

How will I know?

"To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven;
A time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
A time to keep silence, and a time to speak;" (Ecclesiastes 3: 1, 5a, 7a NKJV))

How will I know?
Will God tell me
when to speak
when I won't be a bother?

Will He?

We are at odds with ourselves

We make choices.
God allows.
The promises He makes
are true.
He is forever
faithful.
But us?
We are at odds
with ourselves.
We question.
We see one thing
and yet another
Never the same
it appears.
Our faith is weak.
We falter,
we fail
to keep our eyes
our heart
our mind
on Him
who knows us
beginning
to
end.

The Door is still open ...

Feelings
get in the way
of what God has said to us.
We ask for a sign,
we look for the open door,
and it is there,
ready for you to enter in
and explore and be
and do great things,
all for His sake.

But our feelings
about this or that,
whatever
we find
after we enter that door
God had readied for us,
stop us
from fulfilling
His plan for our life.

We see reasons
not to go on
we see our life lived
and then come up short,
all because
our plans
failed to come to fruition.

Our plans.
Our plans are only ours
in so far as they are in
God’s will.
Our plans may change.
We make choices.

What about God’s plan,
His will, His desire
for our life?

You heard the call.
Why do you
not hear it anymore?
Have you closed the door
He opened for you?
Have you decided
there is no reason
to go on?

Some doors God closes
because of
disobedience to Him.

But God
does not close every door.

A turn of events,
happenings
in our lives,
however humbling,
even disabling,
is not a closed door.

Perhaps our walk
has slowed.
Age or health,
even finances
may be deterrents.
But deterrents
are not
synonymous with a
closed door.

God did not say
life would be
all beautiful roses
for even roses have thorns.

You want to live
You want your life back
You don’t like the changes
appearing –
the good health has given way to poor  health
the great job has become no job

God desires us to walk with Him
all our days,
to not give in to feelings,
to not give up and close the door.

God has opened a door –
and you stepped inside.
The door
did not latch shut
and lock.
You are free.
Free --- to be,
to do, to fail,
to get up and go again,
free to live totally with Him.
Free to live a life
centered on God.

Free too
to rely on outside influences,
free to allow conflicting
thoughts fester
and cause turmoil
and poor decisions.
Free to live a life
centered on Self
and feelings.

The door is open, still.
You stepped in.

What now?

We can be complete

God's glory
His power
His majesty
His completeness,
whole
and without blemish

We stand on the rock,
waiting
We want to see
His ...
Him
as He is

But,
His response?
"I will make all My goodness pass before you, and I will proclaim the name of the LORD before you. I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion." (Exodus 33:19)

But, however,
"You cannot see My face; for no man shall see Me, and live." (Exodus 33:20)

And so,
He sends His Son --
complete
whole
and without blemish --
JESUS
who is the rock.

"Coming to Him as to a living stone, rejected by men, but chosen by God ... a chief cornerstone, a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offense." (I Peter 2:4, 6, 8)

We want to see
and when we do
We reject
We rejected God
We reject His Son

We only reach out
when we glimpse
the results
of what sin has done to us.
When we accept
When we believe
When we choose
obedience to Him,
who passes by,
who shelters us
in "the cleft of the rock
and covers us with His hand." (Exodus 33:22)

Obedience
to the King of Kings
who was
and is
and is to come
He is our salvation
our truth
He makes us too
complete
Not pure,
not without blemish
But still complete

We are One with Christ
One with God
One with the Holy Spirit
His grace
His glory
and we are His
... a child of the King.

The paths we take

Not from life
nor from experience
should we set into motion
our path
but on the solid ground
of Christ

He is all knowing
of who and what
we are now
and in our future comings

His Word
is the proof
we seek and need.
In His Word,
through study
and intent searching
of the Holy Scriptures
and meditation,
we can know
with certainty
and confidence
the way
of all our comings and goings.
