He talks to me
He talks to you
do we hear
what is He saying
what do we hear
are we listening
is it clear
or muffled
Are sounds around us
robbing us
of what we need to hear
is it only dull noise
deafening our thoughts
that bring unrest
We get caught up
in anothers' thoughts
as much as our own
The still small voice
of God
so soft
so quiet
so gentle
never loud nor demanding
He talks to me
and to you
what is He saying
what do we hear
We cannot know
what He says
if we cannot discern
good from bad
right from wrong
truth from falsehoods
We cannot hear
what He says
if we do not listen
and
we cannot listen
if we do not tune out
all that distracts us
in the world
and in our own thinking
We cannot be at peace
if we do not spend moments
of quiet solitude in His Presence.
