Disappointments

In the midst of every trial we face, God still loves us. He too is disappointed in us at times,  just as there are times we are disappointed in ourselves and in another. Disappointment over decisions made and a realization payment will be made for the consequences. Running away from responsibilities is not the answer. We must stand, together, and fight the battle. We cannot outrun God, who sees everywhere we go.

Based on readings in Ecclesiastes, Philippians 4:8 and Romans 8:28

We run
We look in disdain
those whose actions
disappoint us

Are we so very different?
Have we not all run
at one time or another?

Disappointment comes
from our parents
our friends
other family members
ourselves
God

Decisions made
can build us up
and encourage us
or tear us apart
and bring discontent

Every step taken
brings a new decision
a step forward
a step backward

We
each of us
will pay.

The consequences
of our
every
individual
decision
is
ours alone
to bear.

We
cannot
lay
blame
elsewhere.

Yet, even then
in the midst
of our trials
and distresses,
our  questions
of which we
have no answers,
God remains faithful.

God still loves us
God still extends His hand
God still offers the gift of salvation
through His Son, Jesus Christ
God still is with us.

In all of life
God is there
We need to come
to unite
and reunite
We need to remember
and remember again

Disappointments will come
as will weeping
tears of joy
and of sadness
Love and laughter
it is life
will you embrace it
and live
as God has purposed

or will you turn away
from that which is
good and true,
noble and just,
pure and lovely and virtuous?

Coming Home

I’m coming home
I’m coming home
I hear the call
louder and louder
it beckons in my ear
My Lord
My Savior
My Jesus
His still small voice
beckons to me

Oh my sweet baby boy
My dear husband
My sisters
and brothers
friends
and numerous more
All eagerly awaiting my arrival
on heaven’s peaceful shore

Yes, I’m coming home
I’m coming home
The pangs of pain
with each slight
movement
soon to be no more

My departure
will be swift
saddening for sure
to many
but oh,
what joy
what unspeakable glory
what outpouring of divine love

as moment by moment
my demise
from this forsaken world
becomes
complete

and I dwell
in the new heavenly home
of my Beloved Father
for all of Eternity.
He
the I AM
The Alpha and The Omega

and me --
I am His child
to the ends of time.

 Forever … I am His.

Am I ... selfish?

“Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.”  (Philippians 2:3-4)

Selfishness
Am I
desiring for self?
Is it
that
or
is it
more

Is it
only you
that counts
only your needs
your desires
Are you responsible
for nothing
beyond yourself?

I return
Think again

Selfishness
Not just your own interests
but others too
your husband
your wife
your marriage
your son
your daughter
your family

Why
is it
only what you want to do
why
does it
not
matter about another
why
do you
pedal backward
as fast as you can

You say you want a new life
a fresh start
You say
you want
to be
his wife
her husband
still.

But to work at it
to yearn for goodness
Why
is it
moving forward
within the bonds of marriage
harder
for you
to cope with
than moving onward
to other things
not necessarily good

Why
is it
what you have
is not good enough

Why
is it
your thinking
there must be
something
better

something
more

More than love?
Better than love?

He loves you
She loves you
God loves you

Nothing
is higher
or grander

Another prays
for you
and he
and she
and them

Prays
you will see
you will hear
you will understand

Prays
love will come
a change will come
within your heart

Prays
you find
love

the love
that has
already found you
His love
Her love

God’s love

Prays
you will accept
this love

True Love.
